DRUMS GOOD... MAKE HAPPY!

Anderson Music teaching studio
The key to success in any educational setting is inspiration. No amount of training will be effective if the individual is not inspired to learn or is unwilling to spend time in important practice hours. I bring extensive professional experience to lessons but I also realize success in an area of the performing arts can quickly become a part of success in other areas by building confidence and self-esteem through practice and accomplishment.

Music is an inspiration in so many ways in my life and I want to promote this experience with my students to assist them in finding their musical inspiration and coaching them in a grounded music skill base. I am an enthusiastic teacher and bring this to the craft of music and drumming. I can articulate my experiences and enthusiasm to create an individual learning experience so that students can advance to the next level of performance and competence.

My main goal in teaching is to help students learn the fundamentals of music and drumming as well as developing an awareness of different styles. Lesson time will be divided between developing good technique; learning to read music; and learning to listen (ear training). Students will be introduced to a variety of musical styles and encouraged to make them part of their playing. This integrated approach will create a well rounded drummer and musician.

I highly encourage participation in school music programs for those students who are afforded that opportunity.

I consider myself a 'student of the drums' and believe that there is always something new to learn and incorporate into my own playing and performing. In addition I continually strive to improve my teaching techniques and methods. Each student is different and requires individual and unique level of attention. To that end I am a member of the following teaching communities:

The Vic Firth
Education Team

The Percussive
Arts Society

The International
Association for
Jazz Education

The National Association
for Music Education

The Professional Drum Teachers Guild

Every student marches to their own drum beat!
