The WaterFall Jazz Trio is my newest project. As a singer I am most comfortable singing from behind the drum set as I have for most of my professional performing life. Over the last couple years I had been hired to sing a collection of Frank Sinatra songs in front of a big band. While I enjoyed the songs and style of singing I felt naked out front of the band without the drum set around me. And besides I would rather play drums than hire someone else to play (although when I did hire out I had great drummers playing!) I wanted to continue performing these and other songs by artists I admired and had inspired me. I tried a "small big band" but as I said I was not comfortable. In fact another local singer has his big band show well put together and that was another factor in trying a small ensemble to express this music. The WaterFall Jazz Trio is an ensemble that allows me new musical exploration and rediscovery.
Members of the Waterfall Trio include:
